Mental Health Awareness

Mental health is the foundation of our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It includes our sense of purpose, resilience, and happiness, as well as our ability to develop, maintain and sustain healthy relationships and cope with stressors and trauma.

However, despite the growing recognition of mental illness and efforts to reduce stigma and discrimination, many people do not receive treatment. Often, they do not seek treatment because they are unaware that there is help available, or are concerned about being treated differently or losing their jobs. In addition, many individuals do not seek treatment because they do not believe that they have a mental health condition.

This is why it is critical that charities work hard to raise awareness and educate the public on mental health disorders. This includes the workplace, where stress can be a major contributor to poor mental health. To address this, charities should ensure that everyone feels comfortable discussing their issues openly, and that they are able to take positive steps to improve and safeguard their wellbeing.

As part of this, educating the youth on mental health is extremely important. Schools are the perfect place to do this, as they have the power to empower students with knowledge and make them aware of how they can be supported in their mental health journey. Moreover, they can also teach them about how to recognize signs of mental health problems and help them access the appropriate services.
